Everyone knows that yoga is a great way to relieve stress, increase circulation and give us a positive attitude. Yoga is good for every age.How yoga helps you depend on how much you relax when taking yoga. To begin you will need to buy the correct supplies that go with yoga. This includes a yoga mat and a comfortable outfit that is not too tight and not to loose. If you are not sure where classes are taken you can call around at the local gyms or hospitals. Most of the time the yoga instructors will post that information to increase class participation.
How can yoga help you?
Yoga is great for men because it relaxes you and it can work hand in hand with weight training and keep you feeling healthy. It will put you on track to a healthier lifestyle.
Yoga is beneficial for women because it can teach you to become in touch with your life and help you deal with every day stress. For kids yoga can help deal with everyday stress, peer pressure, sports and other everyday routines that kids deal with. A positive attitude and learning to deal with stress will make a child feel more confident and better about him self or her self. Of course yoga is also good for the elderly as well. It promotes good circulation and encourages a healthy lifestyle.
No matter what age you are, you can benefit from yoga. It helps your body in so many ways. Yoga can also be a way to get out and socialize if you attend a small group. Sometimes we don’t take the time to go out of our routine and socialize like we should. Remember you are all there for the same reason. DVD’s and CD’s are available if you prefer to practice yoga in the comfort of your own home.

There are many advantages to taking part in Yoga, but unlike other exercises there are many different yoga poses to be learned which is why I have decided to tell you about some of the main ones so that you can learn this age old art of stretching to give yourself a better body, relaxation and improve your inner strength.
As with most things you wish to learn, it is best to start with the basics and work up to the more complex poses with time once you have mastered the easier ones. The bridge pose is a good one to begin with but you need to make sure you stretch first to avoid injury.
Strengthening your core can help both in your day to day activities as well as any exercise or sports you take part in. This can be achieved with many different poses that are part of yoga. One that is common is the cat pose. If you have ever seen a cat stretch you will know where this name came from.
There are some of the exercises you are able to do in a standing position. They vary as to their benefit but are all steps in the right direction. If you suffer from tight hamstrings and wish to lengthen them you will definitely benefit from the big toe pose. It is pretty much as it seems, you have to bend down and touch your big toe without arching your back.
Meditation is just as important as the other kinds as you need to have a healthy body as well as mind. This means allowing free flowing thought so that you don’t have bad thoughts holding you back from inner peace. There are various yoga poses that can be taken while meditating and although some can take to them straight away others may take longer.

Modern Yoga has taken on a new connotation devoid of any spiritualist with the asanas or postures of hatha yoga included in fitness regimen. This has essentially led to many self designed types of yoga and is a lucrative business. Yoga essentially means enlightenment and is central to Hinduism and offshoots of Hinduism. Modern Yoga practice has inherited a few elements from this ancient tradition. Breathing exercise (pranayama) and meditation is the most popular of these. Yoga has a unique ability to relax a person and this is adopted by persons who do not look for enlightenment but for its utility to health of mind and body
The goals of Yoga are expressed differently by different traditions. The goals of modernism are relaxation and distressing of a person. With this in mind we have a number of tailored programs Yoga for beginners, Yoga for Women , Yoga for Children , Yoga for heart, etc. are the advertisements you would see to entice people to join a yoga fitness center. The common form of Yoga is the practice of concentration. The focus of meditation is different from school to school. Heart (anahata), or third eye (aina) are major points of focus, meditation on peace or Deities is another form. Hatha yoga was invented as purification so that meditation can be done with ease.
Physical purification, Moral Discipline, and meditation are the basics of yoga. There is a far wider reality which often gets forgotten in modern fitness practices. It is sorry to see that instead of holism practiced another view of yoga is propagated. Blinding the horse to see only in one direction is what the market forces have done to Yoga. Enlightenment is left far behind in our globalization and commercialization. Hatha yoga is only viewed for its health benefits and not for its enlightenment.
Health Benefits
â?¢ It is believed to calm the nervous system.
â?¢ It helps to balance the body, mind, and spirit
â?¢ It follows the same principles as life energy and helps prevents specific diseases.
â?¢ It is used to reduce blood pressure and stress
â?¢ It improves sleep, coordination, flexibility, concentration and digestion.
â?¢ Alternative remedies suggest it as a therapy for cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, asthma and Irritable Bowel Syndrome
â?¢ It is helps in treatment of spinal problems and chronic back pain.
Yoga as a healing alternative is now the most popular form and very few look towards yoga as a means toward enlightenment.

Yoga is “preventative medicine” for children and adults. Yet the world does not often embrace preventative action. Just look at hunger, global warming, health care, and poverty. Now you see that some people do take action, but many do not.
Educating the public about the many benefits, which children experience from Yoga practice, is a full-time job for some Yoga teachers. Although most of the public thinks of Yoga postures as a “mild” form of exercise; there are many more different aspects to Yoga practice.
Yoga is a complete holistic approach to health. Yoga teaches proper breathing, dieting, exercise, meditation, relaxation techniques, and many more natural solutions to health problems.
Yoga and Ayurvedic medicine have dieting practices based upon a person’s constitution or dosha. This same classification can be made for exercise routines. An Ayurvedic doctor will, most likely, recommend specific exercises based upon a patient’s dosha.
The entire approach of Yoga and Ayurveda is based upon preventative measures. There are also solutions for “damage control,” when a person has an existing ailment, but any doctor can agree that many of today’s health problems are preventable.
Let’s look at global obesity. The public is very tired of hearing about obesity. Your spam filters are working overtime to pull all of the “Instant weight loss” methods out of your Email box. If you read through the spam, you will notice that spammers want to sell you pills, not permanent solutions to obesity. The spammer’s approach is to make quick money off the public.
When the majority of our population refuses to exercise, the easy money is in selling pills, instant weight loss, and “snake oil.” There is a solution, but most of us will not like it. Yogic diets are full of fruit, vegetables, and natural food. Even in India, it can be observed that diabetes is on the rise, when people eat “junk food.”
As the Indian economy has improved, so has the “middle class appetite” for processed food. This runs parallel to western social and economic patterns.
What does this have to do with Yoga for kids? Yoga is a lifestyle and the earlier you expose children to good health habits, the better your child’s health will be.
As parents, we have many choices, but establishing good health habits, within our children, is an obligation. We also have to eat properly, and exercise, with our children. If you cannot go to a Yoga class, you can always take your child out for a walk. Parents are role models, and any child will copy the image, which you create for him or her.
Yoga classes for children are a parent’s gift of good health. Yoga gives kids a better chance to develop good habits, handle stress, find natural solutions to good health, and live a quality life.
