Hatha Yoga is not the only goal. Hatha Yoga makes us aware that the body with its inestimable qualities is everything that we have in life; because we all enter this world naked and we leave it naked as well. This is one of the reasons we have to good take care of our body. The more we try to achieve perfection when it come to the body, the more quickly our mental capacities unfold: better memory, concentration, will- power and self-belief. The blessing of Hatha Yoga is threefold; health, well-being and long life.

The physical practice of Yoga are the stepping stones to meditation. According to Patanjali, Yoga is the tool to change you state of mind.

When you first start with yoga, the pose is obligatory to achieve peace of mind. The various yoga poses are exercised regularly to achieve better health and flexibility to the body. All yoga positions helps to even directly or indirectly calm the mind down. Most of the various Asana are too aid in the build up of different parts of the body and to develop the strength required by the more advanced physical disciplines. The purpose of the yoga poses is to recondition the system, both mind and body, and to develop the nervous and glandular systems.

Hatha Yoga is a method that aims to achieve the maximum results with the minimum expenditure of energy. The various yoga positions have been devised to bring a rich supply of blood to the brain and to the various parts of the spinal column. The yoga asana work by stretching, bending and twisting the spinal column in different directions to promote the health of the nerves.

Regularity in yoga asana practice is an absolute necessity if one wishes to realise the full potential of the Yoga process. If the foundations of a building are not correctly laid, the house will most likely fall down or collapse. So too, if a student of Yoga has not gained a certain degree of mastery over the yoga poses  he/she can not successfully proceed to the advanced disciplines.

Hatha yoga and a healthy diet will do you wonders!

Persons who have difficulties concentrating or have any kind of obsessive thoughts, even person with unstable emotions will benefit from hatha yoga lessons. Exercises of Hatha yoga that were developed in ancient India, and their performance teaches one concentration of consciousness in various parts of the body, as well how to more easily relax your body and mind; they aid in the elimination of many bio-energetic defects and have a healing effect on some chronic diseases within the body.

The mechanism that is at work here is as follows: maintaining positions of hatha yoga for some time will cause the accumulation and redistribution of energy sources in the energetic structures of the body, which leads to their development. The sensations when mastering a new asanas is very typical and completely normal. The first few days of Hatha yoga practice one will not feel nothing new, only adaptation of the body takes place, which is important. During the next few days absolutely new “mysterious” and pleasant sensation of energies “flowing” inside the body, the “flow” runs in meridians like a liquid stream of some sort, appears; one may even hear a babbling sound at times. But in one or two weeks they disappear unexpectedly and to one’s regret, this means that the specific asana has done its job at the current stage. What has really taken place is the following. A corresponding meridian started to function as a result of doing the asana. While its conductivity was still low one had interesting sensations of murmuring type. When the meridian had opened up the energy flowed out freely inside the body and the murmuring feeling ceased.

The initial stages of mastering Hatha yoga exercises, the necessary part of doing asanas is to perform shavasana after the whole exercise or after particular asanas, which must be performed separately (the exception is for the relaxation poses). This is important for the easing the energetic strains that will build up due to the conductivity is still low. If this condition is not fulfilled, compulsive symptoms (changes in the mood, sleep disturbances and many more) and even visual impairments or disorders of other systems of the organism may develop.

Realaxation asanas is described below. Other exercises are described in specialized literature.

Practicing Hatha yoga without switching to “cruelty-free” diet always leads to the coarsening of consciousness of the students. You are taking the control of your body back with a diet. But it turns out to be a terrible trap: possessing coarse power of consciousness we program ourselves for living in hell.

Key points about the Hatha yoga study
Aug 25th, 2009 by Dee Marie

The university’s researchers in Indiana have found promising result involving Hatha yoga practice by older adults who have some kind of fear of falling. Just after a 12 week, twice weekly hatha yoga class, taught by professional yoga gurus, the study participants had a greatly decreased fear of falling, and they also benefited from increase flexibility in the lower body and a significant reduction in leisure constraints.

Fear of falling is an important public health concern because it can cause older adults — even those who have not had a problem with falling — to limit their friends and movement. This effort to avoid falls can make a harmful cycle that can diminish health and quality of life.

“Our study found that Hatha yoga with older adults showed us that they got great benefits from it,” said Marieke Van Puymbroeck, assistant professor in the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Studies in IU’s School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation.

Van Puymbroeck discussed some of her findings this month at the International Association of Yoga Therapists’ Symposium for Yoga Therapy and Research in Los Angeles and will explain her findings further at conferences hosted by the American Geriatrics Society and the American Therapeutic Recreation Association. Some key points about the Hatha yoga study:

The study involved 14 men and women with an average age of 78. Five participants had fallen previously.

•Van Puymbroeck said the 90 percent weekly attendance rate was notable, as well was the low dropout rate (only 6%), which is a lot lower than most other physical activity and yoga classes. The participant took only classes in Hatha yoga, which is one of the most gentle form of yoga exercises and Hatha yoga can be performed from a seated position. The twice weekly Hatha yoga classes lasted for an hour each.
•After the 12 weeks study, the new Hatha yoga students reported a 6 percent decrease in fear of falling, a 34 percent increase in lower body flexibility, and a statistically significant reduction in leisure constraints.
•Van Puymbroeck said participants reported “tremendous benefits,” with better life quality due to increase ability for the new yoga students to overcome many new situations, better movement, increased flexibility and improved balance. Almost every participant of the study wanted to continue with Hatha yoga after the 12 weeks.
