For most people, dreams are mysterious ‘mini movies’ that play in their minds while they’re sound asleep, seemingly without their control, with some being rather pleasant, and others, not so much. However, we now know that it is actually possible to make dream control a complete reality, bringing about what is known as lucid dreaming.
But, what does the term truly mean and how does it work, and what, if any, are the benefits, and is it really possible for anyone to achieve this means of making our nightly journeys into the world of dreaming our own continual series of fascinating adventures? Read on for the answers to these common questions about the art of dream control or lucid dreaming.
Exactly What is Dream Control?
Dream control, using lucid dreaming, means that not only are you fully aware that you are dreaming, but that you’re also able to control what happens during the dream. While totally asleep, you realize that what seems to be going on is actually a dream and you are solely in control of the events that play out as well as the final outcome.
There are people who do suffer from nightmares and frequently. This method is powerful and simple, and just the method they may need to relieve themselves of these disturbingly bad and distressing dreams.
Common Ways of Inducing Lucid Dreaming

It’s often a simple matter of telling yourself, just before going to sleep, that you will be dreaming soon and in that dream you will remember to do or say something specific, and when that happens, you will instantly realize that it is a dream.
This particular method to dream control is referred to as MILD, or mnemonic induction of lucid dreams, which was discovered by scientist Dr. Stephen LaBerge. With this approach, your brain is then in complete control as to what occurs in the dream, meaning that nothing could or would come of harm to you as it’s simply all in the mind and you are only limited by your own imagination.
There are other means of accomplishing lucid dreaming and one would be to keep a journal or a dream diary, in which to record your dreams. By keeping this notebook (and a pen or pencil) nearby on the table by your bed you will be able to write down what you remember about the dream right after you wake up, when it is fresh in your mind. Do this for several nights and soon you will remember what you wrote and you will have a similar dream and then you will be able to control your dream and the activities in that dream.
Chase away the bad guys in nightmares, travel to whatever location you desire, go to your imagined hideaways, talk to famous people if you want, and basically be unshackled by worldly concerns. Through controlling your dreams, you can accomplish this, it gives you the ability to be in control of your nightly dream world and all that happens there.
There is one potential drawback to lucid dreaming, say the experts. As with life in general, it holds true that an opposite effect is, an actuality, when you get too much of a good thing. The natural dream state is when we find out things about ourselves, things which would normally have been hidden from us and may never have surfaced. This is the main reason for you to enjoy your lucid dreaming, but you should also take some time off from lucid dreaming to dream in a natural state. Just remember to take a break and enjoy.
Success has never been as hungrily sought after as it is nowadays. It appears everyone wants to be successful at something and the fact that others are achieving their dreams makes them want success even more. But it doesn’t help to want success if you don’t know how to achieve it. Hard work and focus can only do little, but with manifestation meditation so much more can be attained.
Inasmuch as it is good to multi-task the brain gets easily confused with random thoughts. There is something about so many tasks that gets the mind unable to process all of them adequately. This phase of manifestation meditation is all about making your mind know what you wish for in a simplified manner.
Manifestation meditation starts and ends with certain processes. The very first step involves going to a quiet place like the beach in the morning. Once you’re in a quiet place think about what you really want from life. This is achieved by reflecting on your past and figuring out what worked best for you and what. You should then write that down on a neat piece of paper you will pin up on a wall somewhere in the house.
After deciding on your goal you should then detach yourself again and sit down to silence. Becoming relaxed helps to make your vision of success clearer than ever before. The mind works a whole lot better with silence and certainty; clogging your mind with random thoughts confuses the brain making it unable to manifest dreams in the exact manner you imagine them. Some people actually associate their success with an image or thought that fills them with compassion; the belief is that this burning passion has a powerful energy.
Once you’re relaxed and calm the next thing you should do is imagine your success. Be sure to eradicate any distracting thoughts that might offset your imagination. The vision you hold in your mind should be clear and you must think about that thought for the remaining period of your meditation.
To make the meditation more powerful you should clip out pictures associated with your vision of success. Cut out pictures of the car you want and attach them to your piece of paper. Another thing is that you must focus on your imagined success throughout your day as you take the necessary steps that will help you achieve your success.
The law of abundance is very simple. In a nutshell, all it requires for you to do is to believe in yourself, believe that you deserve love, wealth, and happiness, and think positive thoughts. That is all there is to it. People from all walks of life have been abiding by this one very crucial law for decades and have been able to reap the fruits of their thoughts and simplistic beliefs.
The very best thing about the law of abundance is the fact that it is so simple. You may not want to believe it but everything you have at this point in your life and everything that you are is a direct result of the thoughts you have had over the past several years. Sadly, all the things that are lacking in your life are a result of what you believe as well.
Every day that you are alive, the law of abundance is available to you. Most people’s problem is that the fail to take full advantage of this power in their life.
If you want your dreams to come true and manifest themselves in your life, you must look at what you have already. It is through appreciation for these things that you will see multiplication begin to take hold in your life.
It’s common sense. If you are naturally a pessimistic person, thinking positively about life may seem like a challenge. In reality, all you are doing is breaking a bad habit. Again, taking advantage of the law of abundance doesn’t have to be difficult.
Each day when you wake up, you are the one who is creating the opportunities for wealth and happiness. By waking up in a bad mood, you are setting yourself up for disappointment and failure. Something that may help you to think more positively about your life is to leave little notes for yourself throughout your house reminding you of how lucky you are.
Being open to this level of abundance, you will find there are so many things for you to attain. By not taking advantage of the law of abundance, people will foil their own success and wealth. If you truly want to prevent this, you must take control of your thought life. Make it a conscious decision to change the way you think.
Each time one of those negative thoughts creep into your mind, turn it around into something that will work for you. Some people find it beneficial to feed off their own negative thoughts. Doing this might be a much simpler way to make the law of abundance work out for you, especially if you are naturally pessimistic.
If you are prone to automatically assuming that you are fat, think to yourself, ‘I am fit and thin’. Happiness will begin to abundantly flow into your life and you will be able to have whatever you want because positive energy is contagious.

Making the law of abundance a moving force in your life is something you can achieve. When you accept life, the way it is and appreciate what you already have, you open the door to the law and you will be absolutely amazed by how much better things will be.
Everybody is capable of manifesting abundance into their lives. It does not matter where you are from or who you are. According to what you deeply desire in your heart of hearts and what you think you deserve, will manifest itself. Everything in your life is a reflection of your thoughts and feelings.
Realizing that thoughts are powerful is a major part of manifesting abundance. The quality of your thoughts from infancy is what shapes your life. However, while an infant, the quality of your thoughts was just beginning its development. At that time your thoughts centered on your basic instincts for survival as well as taking in immensity of all the sensory input surrounding you.
You learned from this point in your life to believe in what your parents taught you. What they ended up teaching you were social skills in your childhood. Then after learning that you went to school and was taught life is hard and having abundance in your life is just a dream and nothing more.
You learned that perhaps you could reach your dreams with too much over work or you needed rare genes or maybe you would just get lucky. You found that abundance might not even be possible. You found that you might die of starvation and not have a comfortable home, if you were not lucky or you were ignorant. Perhaps, you even learned that you should forget all those extraordinary dreams that are essential to you, that perhaps you would have to marry just anyone rather than your soul mate.
In reality, you do not have to rely on luck, education or rare genes to have abundance. In reality, you do not have to be bored, work too hard at doing a job that does not suit you.
You can thrive, since you have universal permission to do so, you deserve to thrive, you need to know this.
You need to know deep down inside your soul that you deserve to manifest abundance. Particular things can make this a reality and you need to understand and embrace that. The cosmic laws of manifesting abundance are universal, even though everyone is different. These cosmic laws find distinctive expression in you and in your life. As an example, consider the musician that applies universal law while playing his or her instrument using their own distinct style as they compose and play. This is something you should remember so as not to become too confused. Manifesting abundance is personal and has nothing to do with trying to keep up with others.
Now, you have to keep in mind that each of us is an individual. Though the cosmic laws are universal, they will manifest themselves in each of our lives in a different way. Just as each musician plays their instrument their own way, and each artists uses paint and brush a little different, abundance will manifest in your life differently than the person next to you. This means that you have to make abundance be about what you want, not what you need to be better than Mr. Smith next store.
This can mean that you get married… or that you don’t. It can mean that you have more money then you know what to do with… or that you have enough for a simple and modest life. It can mean that you are as famous as Tiger Woods… or as the local butcher in your neighborhood. It will all depend on what your heart truly desires.
The most important thing is what you desire in your heart. That is how you can bring about an abundant life is through these desires. It is living out your dreams.
* Living your fantasies is what you deserve and you need to understand this deep down inside. If you do not, you need to meditate on the concept of deserving the desires of your heart. Do these while taking the time to find an internal private space daily, if you have a hard time comprehending this. You can do this by learning to meditate if you do not already know how to meditate. You need to re-program yourself to know the opposite, since long term conditioning that you are not good enough to live a charmed life exists within you.
*You must know you deserve you dreams. If this is difficult for you to get maybe finding a quiet spot to think or meditate on the internal things of your person. You have been told and taught that you cannot accomplish this so you must re-program yourself to actually believe in having an abundant life.
* Know what you want and then allow your fantasies to flow as you focus intensely on the fantasies that come to you.
*Once you know what it is you want let your dreams take a hold of you. Focus your energies on making this fantasy into reality.
*Next, whatever actions you are feeling inspired to take to bring about your reality… do it. If it means taking a trip, do it. Changing your hair… reading a book… taking a few college courses… do what your mind is telling you to do, go where your heart is taking you.
* Allow those things that manifest in your life, as they will, never try to force them to happen. Remember that which you most desire is on its way to you at this time. You need to be ready for it as well as be patient knowing that it is coming to you.
*Just allow things to take shape in your life instead of forcing them. Be patient and know that it is coming like something in the mail.
It is time to have the life you have always wanted. The life of your dreams is waiting for you, start believing.
Wouldn?t it be nice to have a lucid dream, to be aware you are dreaming and control what happens? Of course you do, but how does one learn to do this?
You’ll need to think about why you want to be a lucid dreamer, as well as the benefits of it. First, we’ll take a look at normal sleeping.
Before we look at lucid dreaming, think about normal sleep; you get into bed, close your eyes for a certain length of time, and either dream or just see black for a few hours and then wake up! It isn’t very interesting now is it?
Normal sleep is just a method of refreshing ourselves for the busyness of the next day.However, it could be a lot more interesting if you could control the period of time in which you’re dreaming.
What if rather than being an active observer, you can be the one who can lead your dream to be whatever you want, rather than your dream leading you? This is what a lucid dreamer is; someone who is in total control of their dreams; able to explore new worlds that are not bound to the physical, societal and time-space laws of the real world.
How can a person achieve this? How do you learn to be a lucid dreamer? DILD refers to a dream initiated lucid dream. You need to realize you are dreaming. In other words, if you are dreaming and know it, you are having a lucid dream.
WILD refers to a wake initiated lucid dream. You slip into a dream before you are fully asleep. Instead of going to sleep before you dream you simply enter into the dream with your mind still conscious.
So, what methods can you use to induce these kinds of lucid dreaming states?
Remember your dreams.
If you’re interested in lucid dreaming, dream recall is one of the most effective ways of learning to do it. Dream recall is the ability to remember your dreams. If you remember them, you’re more likely to be able to recognize them while you’re asleep. That’s because most of us have the same dreams or dream elements more than once.
The way to practise dream recall is by keeping a dream journal. The dream journal is meant as a tool to write down anything you can remember about your dream, in order to recall it for the future. This should be done right after waking up; otherwise dreams will become harder to remember.
Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD)
This is a technique that was developed by Dr. Stephen LaBerge, one of the lead scientists studying lucid dreaming. The intent here is to simply tell yourself that you will remember something, like an object for example and then in the dream, when you see this object you will realize it is a dream.
Wake-Back-to-Bed (WBTB)
The process here is to go to sleep, doing nothing but setting your alarm to wake you up a few hours later (5 or 6). Once you wake up, DO NOT go back to sleep. Instead, do something else like read for a while, or think as much as you can about lucid dreaming for around an hour then go back to bed.
According to Stephen LaBerge, there is a 60% success rate of this technique. The reason why is that you would have woken up during the process of sleep, meaning that your mind is not fully aware of this, and are still in the middle of REM cycle. So basically, it’s like going to your mind and telling it that you want to lucid dream.
Cycle Adjustment Technique
Created by Daniel Love, this method involves setting an alarm to wake you one and a half hours before your normal wake-up time. Once you get used to this early time, alternate your alarm between a normal time and the early one. When your alarm is set to wake you normally, you’ll find your body’s already ready to wake up early. That makes it more likely that you’ll wake up in your dream, and dream lucidly.
Wake-initiation of Lucid Dreams (WILD)
This method was described before. If you would like to achieve a lucid dream this way, all you have to do is to keep your mind awake while you body falls asleep. This is perhaps the most interesting way of entering a lucid dream. It is as if you are getting ready to watch a movie. You are in the real world, you sit on your couch, you turn on the TV and press play (starting to sleep), the screen is black (in the same way as when your eyes are closed), and all you have to do is wait for the movie to actually start.
A number of ways to stay aware are counting, imagine climbing or descending stairs, chant, control your breathing, count your breaths, and concentrate on relaxing the body from their toes to head. (This all falls under the term ‘self hypnosis’.) It is best to do this when you are not tired, like in the afternoon.
They now have tools you can use to make it even easier to induce lucid dreams. You can get dreaming masks and devices with strobe lights to help you get into the right state of dreaming.
One of the easiest, most reliable methods to induce lucid dreaming is by listening to binaural beats and special sound frequencies through headphones.
This type of sound can alter your brain and bring you to the REM stage of sleep very quickly. This is where your lucid dreaming will occur.
Anyone can learn to be a lucid dreamer. Practice the self hypnosis and keep telling yourself when awake that you will be aware when you are dreaming. This will prepare you for your lucid dream experience.
