Can Yoga Provide A Solution To Soaring Crime Rates?
Feb 2nd, 2010 by Dee Marie

Crime and Yoga don’t seem to be typically 2 words that are used together in the same sentence, and that’s half of the rationale that they’re combined during this article.  When you’re thinking that of a stereotypical criminal, someone who will Yoga simply does not spring to mind.  We have a tendency to think of criminals as being angry, or at least very active, while Yogi are seen as calm and sedentary.  Extremely the 2 are so so much apart that it’s exhausting to think about that somebody who regularly undertakes Yoga classes may ever become a criminal.  Maybe Yoga ought to become compulsory to fight the crime rate?  Here’s why:

Yoga categories begin with a easy standing exercise – the exercise is that this:  Breathe.  You can spend a vital part of a Yoga category concentrating on the simple action of taking a deep breath, breathing it in and feeling it’s life giving force extend to all the so much reaches of the body, and then exhaling it simply as deeply and completely.  This easy act of concentrating of respiration has an unparalleled ability to focus our mental concentration.  It allows us to clear away unwanted or disturbing thoughts and restore ourselves to a central balance.

The calming and focussing advantages of a Yoga respiration exercise will, quickly and easily clear away the types of distractions and temptations that may lead to a criminal act, a minimum of an impulsive one.  Imagine the potential of that on habitual criminals – the ability to take an instant before committing a criminal offense, focus their thoughts and understand that it is not the simplest plan of action and should be avoided.

Most domestic violence could be a direct results of an excessive amount of stress and strain during a relationship.  Statistics show {that the} arguments that lead to an incident of domestic violence are almost perpetually of the ‘little things’.  The final straw being a little thing instead of a massive important issue.  Let’s insert the flexibility to calm ourselves, sharpen our mind and rationalize into that situation.  Domestic Violence may be a result of folks ‘snapping’.  Uncluttering the mind and calming oneself would mean that folks never need to that point.

Alternative kinds of violent crime are like domestic violence – they occur when tension rises up over time till one person snaps and throws a punch or pulls a knife.  With the proper self-calming tools at their disposal these criminals would be so much less likely to offend.

After all, all that assumes {that the} criminal does not need to commit against the law and solely does so because of a failure to see an alternate when a bound set of circumstances present themselves.  They are hungry and can take a loaf of bread therefore they are doing, or they feel threatened, unappreciated or disrespected and see putting out as the sole options.  Yoga would not profit the type of calculating mind that makes a career of criminal activities because every crime is rigorously pre-meditated.

Or wouldn’t it?

Most people grasp of the physical side and have a minimum of heard of the mental and non secular benefits of yoga, but few know {that the} exercises that form the idea of Yoga are solely the Western Worlds interpretation of Yoga.  Historically Indian Yoga includes a complete philosophy on a way to treat each alternative and live our lives.  If criminals also followed this part of Yoga it’d be possible to see crime disappear.  One can solely dream…

Alternative Health Therapies
Dec 7th, 2009 by Dee Marie

More and more alternative health treatments are available these days, however how successful are they in solving our health problems?

A few years ago my girlfriend was having some trouble with her health, she complained of constant aches in various areas of her body. She felt lethargic and generally low. It was affecting many aspects of her life including her career; she worked for a external doors company. She went to the doctor and tried conventional treatments and tablets. This unfortunately did not remedy the situation and she became more and more frustrated.

A friend recommended reflexology and despite many reservations and doubts my girlfriend agreed to give it a go. She returned from her appointment full of excitement and stated that she had never felt more relaxed. In a way it is a bit like the famous saying “horses for courses”; it helped her but that is not to say that it would help everyone.

With this positive outcome my girlfriend became more open to alternative therapy and then decided to attend an aromatherapy appointment. She really enjoyed it and is now looking into other treatments such as reiki and things like an indian head massage, she is becoming hooked.

As for my own experiences, I am somebody who had a speech impediment known as stuttering from the age of four. I attended numerous forms of speech and language therapy during the next decade and a bit. I was advised to speak very slowly and to take a deep breathe before I spoke. I had no confidence with these therapists as a lot of my friends spoke quicker than I did and not one of them took a deep breath before they spoke. They also had never had a stutter themselves and therefore I felt it was impossible for them to understand what I was going through.

After working very hard for nearly year I managed to stop stuttering. I did this by reading many books to do with positive thinking and mind over a matter; I also bought a brilliant self-help DVD from the How To Stuttering Centre in England. I suppose this could be classed as my own complementary therapy – it proved to be successful for me.

I am now doing very well working for a cost reduction company; it sure helps being able to talk fluently.

Nov 24th, 2009 by Dee Marie

Rejuvenation of the body and mind are important aspects in maintaining a stress free busy life. Using these three easy meditation techniques will help you accomplish this in a small amount of time in your busy day.

1. The first and easiest out of the three is a techniques referred to as mantra meditation. This technique works with repeating of natural sounds or repetitive words. Examples include heartbeats, running water from a creek or fountain and a chant that you keep repeating to yourself. These can be very simple for you to begin. While saying the chant or hearing the sounds, regulate your breathing until it is in tune with these sounds or chants. Soon you will start to feel the relaxation taking hold and feel revived and relaxed. Normally this is done for about 15 minutes.

This is one of the most used in easy meditation techniques. You will need to do this in a space were you feel safe and undisturbed. Get into a comfortable sitting position and keep eyes closed. Get rid of any thoughts you may be having, make your mind a clean slate. Take a very deep breath and do not exhale until a three count. Now exhale and keep it going for a six count. You should repeat this for as long as 30 minutes or until you feel the desired level of relaxation.

You are now going to learn the meditation called the yellow light technique. You want to visualize something you wish to come into your life and watch as you see it arriving. Get a very clear visual of this within your mind. You will see this visualization and see a glowing yellow light engulfing it. Then slowly watch as this yellow light takes your wish or goal up into the clouds. You want to keep the vision of you receiving this in your life, now take a breath and let the light disappear far beyond your sight. Know that it is in the world gathering enough energy to manifest itself within your life.

Any of these and other meditation techniques will keep you in a healthy and happy state of mind and body. You can also pair these with yoga or other exercises you have for relaxation.
