June 23rd, 2009 by Dee Marie

Yoga is respected for its power to alleviate stress, increase adaptability, and build muscle tone. It is not, however, well renowned for promoting weight loss. So you might be stunned to discover that it can actually help us burn calories.

Traditional yoga isn’t a very active pursuit. It works our muscles, but we rarely break a sweat by holding a pose ( unless it’s actually hot in the room ). But the muscle-building consequences of yoga do let us to burn calories more efficiently. So if we participate in a good aerobic workout, we will see bigger results than we were not doing yoga.

Yoga can also provide us the discipline we want to adhere to a diet and exercise program. It enhances the link between the mind and body, giving us the incentive to take better care of ourselves. Absence of motivation is a common problem among those who need to shed weight, so this is a particularly crucial benefit.

New Incarnations of Yoga

Those who need to lose weight solely through yoga might find what they’re looking for in non-traditional yoga classes. There are a number of yoga styles that can give us the normal advantages of yoga and a heart workout at the same time. These also include:

* Power yoga - This is an Americanized version of yoga. It combines faster, more active movements with normal yoga breathing techniques.

* Ashtanga yoga – Ashtanga is a complicated form of yoga that includes 6 different series of poses. Each serious is more complicated than the prior one, so it is important to start at the start and work your way up.

* Vinyasa yoga – This type of yoga is based on movement from one pose to another while practicing yoga breathing techniques. Sun Salutations are often used, but other poses are customarily included too. This is commonly done in a hot room to extend sweating.

These sorts of yoga are more likely to increase our heart rate and work up a sweat than traditional yoga. While they may not give us the maximum amount of a workout as aerobics, they combine weight loss and heart benefits with the muscle building and flexibility training of yoga. And for those who do not have the time to take part in 2 separate workout programs, they can be great options. Taking Zotrim can also be helpful.

A part from being a form of exercise, yoga and aerobics seem to have tiny in common. But traditional yoga can boost the effects of more intense workouts, and these newly popular styles of yoga can give us the best of both worlds.
