Teaching Opportunities For Your Yoga Business
September 7th, 2010 by Dee Marie

Yoga teachers with a yoga business are usually on the lookout for further teaching opportunities.  As a yoga teacher if you are looking for further teaching opportunities how far have you looked?

The yoga studio is often one of the first places to consider for yoga business  This can be either the home studio or a studio not located at home.

There are the yoga studios that may or may not be centered around a particular yoga lineage or tradition.  For example a Sivananda centre or an Iyengar or Jivamukti centre.  The centers here all focus on teachings of a certain lineage or tradition.  It goes without saying, that unless you are a special guest teacher, you do need to be trained and qualified in this tradition to be able to teach at their centre.

Otherwise there are yoga studios where there is a mix of styles and traditions.

Gyms and health centers are other locations to give primary consideration for yoga teaching.  Gyms frequently ofter yoga classes nowadays.  The bigger the gym the more likely it is that the gym will have a dedicated mind body studio devoted to yoga, pilates, and other mind body activities.

There may be gyms that you want to target for your yoga teaching yet they don’t currently offer yoga classes.  Don’t let this stop you.  You can always try.  Perhaps you will be the first yoga teacher to teach yoga classes there and you will start a revolution!

Yoga is becoming increasingly popular nowadays and a studio coordinator would be short sighted to not want to give yoga a try on their timetable.

So first considerations for offering yoga classes for your yoga business can be the yoga studios and centers either lineage centered or not.  Further yoga business opportunities can be sought in health centers and gyms.  If yoga is not already on offer at the gym, speak to the timetable coordinator and let them know all the benefits of yoga and suggest classes on a trial basis.
